I can almost taste Italy now!
At 6:30pm tomorrow, I'll be on a plane ready to take off for Heathrow. The first flight is 7 hours, and the second flight is about 2 hours. Italy is 6 hours ahead of EST. There's a lot of math there, but it means that by Monday I'll be standing in my Italian apartment.
I did a lot of last minute things today with Mom. We made a last minute decision to use an American cell phone through AT&T's passport plan. This plan gives me unlimited texting (free of charge for me to text and for you to text me) and 200mb data. Each phone call I make will cost per minute, but who makes phone calls anymore anyway? I'm pretty sure I will have an Italian land line.
We also finished up planning my means of money. I will have the cash I showed previously, as well as a credit card made for international use, and a bank account with attached debit card that I will fill with traveler's checks. Managing money seems to always be convoluted. It will be interesting opening up a bank account in Italy, but it's an important step I have to take.
I also finished packing today. Just one bag, one carry-on, and one backpack for me. I even managed to fit a poster or two into my suitcase; I'm happy I didn't over pack.
My next post will be from Italy. Look forward to it! I know I am.
